Healthy Smiles #OralbWOW

#spon: I'm required to disclose a relationship between our site and Oral Care Influencer Network. This could include the Oral Care Influencer Network providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.

So, I wrote about my love affair with my new toothbrush because it keeps my teeth healthy and shiny, plus it keeps my dentist off my butt. It’s a good experience all around. Well, as part of the #OralbWOW experiment I got sent the toothbrush without the charger. Cruel and usual punishment, you say? Not quite…well, maybe.

No, no, really it’s that Oral-B wants to know what we’re willing to do to get our hands on our chargers. Give up our first born? Go without deodorant to work? No caffeine for a week? Well, I don’t have a child, don’t want people at work to murder me, and I don’t want to murder anyone due to lack of caffeine. What exactly am I willing to do to get my Oral-B Deep Sweep TRIACTION 1000 power toothbrush charger?

I narrowed it down to these 3 things that I’m willing to give up now that I’ve gone a few days without my beloved toothbrush:

  • I’d give up watching the Cooking Channel for a week. This pains me because I really love all the shows on there, especially dealing with fancy cocktails!
  • I’d be willing to give up my latest obsession with iced peach tea. I can’t get enough, and I am just constantly wanting peach tea in any iced format lately. Obsessed.
  • And this one probably pains me the most, but I’d be willing to sacrifice one happy hour outing with friends. :-(

There you have it—I really want my darn charger! I got used to the toothbrush, so having to use the manual one is like a non-fun form of torture. I review all products I get really honestly because I know friends and family read this blog, so I mean it when I say that this toothbrush rocks. I have tried other rechargeable toothbrushes in the past and wasn’t too thrilled or satisfied to really make the switch. The Oral-B Deep Sweep toothbrush is truly great due to how well it battles plaque and other yucky things that make for unhealthy smiles. In conjunction with flossing and using a good toothpaste, it can really help makeover your smile.

But don’t take just my word for it! You can read others’ experiences during the #OralbWOW experiment right over here.

Thanks to Oral-B for allowing me to participate in this fun opportunity, and I hope I get my charger soon! (Hint, hint!)

Healthier Smiles with #OralbWOW

#spon: I'm required to disclose a relationship between our site and Oral Care Influencer Network. This could include the Oral Care Influencer Network providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.

I hate to admit that although my mom has been in the dental profession for like over 25 years, I really despise going to the dentist. I almost feel like they judge us a bit, right? “You drink a lot soda, eh?” or something along those lines. This summer I forced myself to go for a cleaning and check-up, and I had a few cavities. At 28 years old, it’s not fun to be told these things, but I vowed to take better care of my teeth so I could have a healthier smile. One of my least favorite things is flossing…well, to be more specific, I hate flossing the my top, back teeth. I always make myself gag, and I have to really work at it everyday to make sure I am doing my dental homework.

Luckily, the kind folks over at Oral-B sent me the new Oral-B Deep Sweep TRIACTION 1000 power toothbrush, with a retail value up to $64.99, to test out for their #OralbWOW experiment. It seemed like perfect timing given my lackluster dental check-up.

This toothbrush, in conjunction with daily flossing and brushing twice a day, has made my dental homework easier and more effective. I’m crossing my fingers it’ll help me get an A+ at the dentist when I go back. It has powerful bristles that really tackle plaque, which is something my dentist told me to focus on when looking for a toothbrush/toothpaste regimen. The TRIACTION 1000 works marvelously! Here are some of my favorite features:

  • I feel the little bristles at the top working on/in-between my teeth and gums. I can literally feel them scrubbing.
  • Every 30 seconds the brush vibrates telling me to move onto another quadrant of my mouth. This means I brush my teeth for a FULL 2 minutes,
  • Rechargeable battery + replaceable heads= earth friendly toothbrush
  • I feel I get a deeper clean than when using a manual toothbrush- this kind of surprised me

The first word that literally came to mind when I first used it was, “Wow!” A deep clean, fresh feeling without a visit to the dentist’s office. I will definitely keep using the Oral-B deep sweep from now on, and I think my hubby will, too, as soon as we buy him his own toothbrush head. I think this new brush will lead to a happy dentist and a happy Monica.

You can check out Oral-B on social media for great news, promotions, and tips on maintaining oral health and a beautiful smile! Plus you can learn from others who have participated in the #OralbWOW experiment and read their reviews and thoughts on this awesome new toothbrush.

DeLIGHTful Peach Cobbler {Recipe}

DeLIGHTful Peach Crisp Recipe: Peach cobbler doesn't have to be loaded with fat and calories. This version uses simple ingredients to amp up the flavor and tone down the calories.

Peach cobbler is one of those comfort foods that I can remember eating ever since I was a little girl. My mom and I would share a peach cobbler from Bill Miller’s in San Antonio. Or we’d buy those frozen ones and just nom nom nom at Sunday dinner. It’s sweet, gooey, satisfying. Plus it’s like a treasure hunt to eat all that delicious crust or crisp. Oh. Love.

Most recipes call for a ton of sugar, butter, and all those sinfully delicious things that should be had very rarely. Well. Not anymore. I’ve been inspired so much in the kitchen after watching Kelsey’s Essentials on the Cooking Channel. She’s energetic, insightful, and really has empowered me to experiment in the kitchen and be fearless. She’s invigorated how I feel about food. If you haven’t watched her show, I highly recommend it. I never fail to learn something, and she’s the one that inspired me to buy some cast iron skillets. I cook everything in them now, and I’m just in love. I bought my cast iron skillets at Marshall’s for very little money. The small one I used in this recipe was $8 and the larger one was $15. What a bargain!

One Sunday evening, my usual sweet treat craving kicked in and I had some peaches I needed to use stat. I experimented and out came this dish I am sharing with you today. It’s got the sweet, gooey, juicy, crispy and awesome taste/texture of a peach cobbler or crisp without all the guilt. Truly I think you could swap the peaches for apples or even pears and it’d be just as divine. With fall right around the corner, these sorts of desserts become my go-to favorites. Feel free to double or triple the recipe to serve more people. Betcha they won’t know it’s light!

You can even top this with ice cream or light whipped cream for a bit of extra decadence. Dig in!

Let me ask y’all: What are your favorite pies or cobblers? I love peach cobbler, but boy could I eat apple pie everyday. Sigh.

RECIPE:

DeLIGHTful Peach Crisp (Cobbler):
Peach cobbler doesn't have to be loaded with fat and calories. This version uses simple ingredients to amp up the flavor and tone down the calories. Enjoy!

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 20-25 minutes

Total time: 30 minutes

Yield: 2 Servings

Ingredients:

  • Filling:
  • 1 pound of peaches (3 large)
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Splenda
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. dark brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. butter extract
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • Topping (Optional):
  • 1/4 cup quick cook oats
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of Splenda
  • 2 tsp. dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp. butter

Cooking Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grab a small (8") cast iron skillet or a pie dish. Make sure it's well greased/floured. I use flour baking spray on my glass dishes.
  2. Slice all your peaches. I left the skin on, but do what you wish. Incorporate all the ingredients together in a bowl and ensure all the peaches are well coated. Pour peach mixture into dish. Put into the oven for about 15 minutes.
  3. Grab a small bowl and mix everything together for your optional topping. Pull the cobbler out of the oven and sprinkle the topping all over. Pop into oven for another 7-10 minutes or until the topping is nice and crisp/oats are golden brown.
  4. This recipe serves 2 people. Top with light whipped cream and enjoy!
