Today's post is about 2 things: rollercoasters and a $60 giveaway.
Ever been to Disney World and gotten on that Mission: SPACE ride where you can choose whether to do "normal" (green team) or "extreme" (orange team)? If yes, you'll totally understand where I am going with this. And, technically it is not a rollercoaster, it's a simulation ride, but just play along, k?
When I first got on this ride, I picked the orange team because I wanted the full experience. Besides, Disney wouldn't hurt me, right? It's *the* happiest place on earth people!
You're all psyched up watching the pre-mission video and you're like, "YAY! I AM GOING TO SPACE!!" and then you get into the cockpit thingy, and you're like "OHHH-EMMM-GEEEE I am going to SPACE!!!" and then the ride starts. And you're thinking, "Maybe I shouldn't have eaten at Tutto Italia for lunch..." and then you're midway and you're just PRAYING you do not f-ing vomit on the person next to you who may or may not likely be under the age of 12 and has a burly man for a parent.
Then it happens.
The 2.4 g's of gravity or something like that. And you are screaming, "GET ME THE *$#% OFF! NOW! I PICK GREEN!! GREEEEENNNNN!"
Yeah, that's a lot like buying a house.
You look at these shiny houses online and you're oohing and aahing over floors and cabinets. You're pumped. Then you find a house, maybe 2, so you jump on the ride. You look at the house, you bring your parents to look at the house, you start picking out decor for the house. Then the bank stuff happens, and for the most part, it's still fun.
Until you go back to the house and realize the AC doesn't turn on and it's a brand new unit. You kind of start looking for the chicken exit for the ride because in Texas (South Texas) it is HOT. Like hell is a vacation with the kind of temps we see. WE NEED AC.
Then you realize you don't really trust your realtor, though you do really like her. But she seems kinda not on your side, yet kinda on your side. The house has been listed for a over a year, has been reduced $20,000 yet no one really wants to hop on that ride.
And then you start asking questions which seem to annoy everyone. Also making an appearance are sleepless nights, migraines, and oh yeah...that "Iamgonnavomit" feeling. I smushed those words together because if you say each one separately, you may very well hurl.
Who knew house hunting could be such a rollercoaster ride of emotions?
I didn't. But, we are off that crazy ride, and opting for the "green" team now, which should mean smoother sailing from here. Oh, and the sellers did fix the AC so we're submitting an offer TODAY.
We hope.
