Dining Room Updates {Home Décor}

I’ve been posting so many crafty tutorials that I haven’t given you all much of a dining room update lately.

For that I do apologize, but I have some news to share with you all. I know this makeover has been going on since…oh, February, but let’s be real: I am a wife who works full-time and only works on home improvement projects when I have time, money and the desire. So, if I have it done by February 2012, I’ll consider that a major victory.

As I said in a tutorial last week- I have curtains! Four of them, to be exact. And yes, they are the same ones I blogged about awhile back. I finally did 2 things. First, I caved and moved the curtain rod down to 84” and two, I bought the curtains I’d been wanting all along.

Best decisions ever. EVER. No joke. Luckily we saved 20% off on the curtains, plus now I know that 84” curtains will work fabulously, so I can easily/affordably buy more panels as my tastes change. No more having to commit to longer, more expensive curtains. Whew. I really, really loved my decision when I was at Target this weekend and scored these beauties for half off. So, 84” curtains for the win!

On Twitter last week, I asked a serious question…

How much would you pay for a sofa?

As in, the absolute max for a sofa that was perfect in shape, color and style for the space you needed it in. I got a range of responses from $1000 to $5000. I hemmed and hawed about it for the rest of the week, and then I decided I was going to just buy the sofa I’ve been lusting over for a year now (maybe more). It’s the perfect size, color and style for my office. It’s not an item I will be tired of shortly. I’m not going to lie—it took a lot of courage, nagging from the husband and growing a pair to call Macy’s and plunk over mucho dinero on ONE sofa.

ohmygosh.

But, it’s bought. I can’t cancel it (that I know of…) and she will be here on October 15th. Two weeks before Harry Potter cocktail party. Squee! I decided on the Chloe sofa in granite from Macys. There aren’t many pictures online that I could find of the sofa in that color, but I did find these 2:

I truly hope it looks good in my space. I’m sort of nervous about it, but I didn’t want the commitment of the ivory version (stains, gah!) or the higher expense of a custom color. What do you all think? Yay or nay?

Besides those 2 major items, I did get an awesome rug from Overstock and some gorgeous mirrors from Kirklands for $6 each. The major feature on the mirrors is a nailhead like finish, so I was instantly enamored with them. No pics of the mirrors yet because it’s late right now and any pictures I take would be not so good, but here’s a picture of Pee Wee on the rug.

He lays on it all the time. He is convinced I bought it just for him, and it’s impossible to convince him otherwise.

But besides all that, we still need to totally finish the countertops, touch up paint on the walls/mouldings, put everything in place, nap, eat and THEN I can post a full reveal.

Maybe by Christmas.

Which projects in your home have taken the longest? Is it hard to find time to work on your home?

Tomorrow I have 2 major announcements. One I already shared on my Facebook page and one you’ll have to read about tomorrow (or I may post it on Facebook later if I get the go-ahead). Any guesses? This is probably some of the biggest news/opportunities I’ve gotten to date, and it is killing me to not post it right now. I was elated when I got the news yesterday evening. But, I do want to share that my blog/projects have been featured on 3 websites lately!
