National Chocolate Day Celebration {Review}

I was thrilled to be picked for this opportunity because it involves chocolate. July 7th was National Chocolate Day Celebration with TCBY frozen yogurt. It seems that Walmart has recently started carrying the line of products, and luckily mine had a few of the items in stock when we went shopping.

They’re pretty low calorie, affordable and tasty. Now, to me they don’t taste as smooth or creamy as ice cream, but it is frozen yogurt. Keep that in mind. To celebrate National Chocolate Day, we picked up a box of the fudge bars. At 80 calories each, that’s a low calorie treat for any day. But, I am the type of person that is not a huge fan of just chocolate by itself (I am weird, I know). I love chocolate in conjunction with other flavors such as peanut butter, marshmallow, etc.

Finally, we get home and I decide it's time to dig into these fudge bars. However, I love chocolate with peanut butter. So, I thought of a fun idea...

That’s when I got creative and decided to spruce up these fudge bars to make them a little more gourmet for National Chocolate Day. It had to be quick because frozen yogurt melts fast, and because Daniel and I were celebrating National Chocolate Day on a Friday while working on our hall bathroom remodel. The fudge bars have little pockets/ridges in them which make them perfect for adding some flavored shell topping. I had the Reese’s kind on hand.

We have some Reese's topping at home, so I decided to add some to my fudge bar. I always look for quick, cheap, easy ways to spruce up store bought food items. Gourmet without the gourmet price tag.

Grab a fudge bar, your shell topping of choice and a small bowl to catch any excess. Drizzle into the ridges on one (or both) sides of the fudge bar. Let it harden up for 15 seconds.

I drizzle some peanut butter shell topping into the grooves of the popsicle. Wait 15 seconds, and it's done!

Then it’s ready to enjoy! Such a quick, easy way to spruce up some regular fudge bars.

Now I have myself a peanut butter fudge bar. No better way to celebrate National Chocolate Day. :-) I am a member of the Collective Bias™ Social Fabric® Community. My husband and I greatly enjoyed these bars, but they were kind of bland on their own. Just a bit. I guess we’re used to sweeter ice cream, but the dash of peanut butter made it tasty, sweet and simply perfect for our National Chocolate Day Celebration for 2. Next time we’ll try out the tcby frozen yogurt in the quarts to see if those flavors are a bit better. However, for 80 calories, these fudge bars are a good way to satisfy a chocolate craving.
