#MMsGetCorny Candy Centerpiece {DIY Tutorial}
I have a little, ok BIG, obsession with candy corn when it’s not in its natural state. Like, for instance, I won’t eat normal/regular candy corn, but put it inside some M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate candies, and I’ll eat a whole bag in a day. Not alone. My husband helped just so ya know.
Yes, we have officially bought FOUR bags of the new M&M’s I’m about to feature. Now, before you judge me, please know that 2 of these bags were for me to craft with. So, if mama told you not to play with your food…I’m gonna argue that candy isn’t food and you should play away . LET’S PLAY!!
What are we making today? A cute centerpiece that would be uber fab for Halloween candy buffets, school parties or office luncheons. It’s cute. It’s easy. I made it all while watching an episode of Glee.
Supplies Needed:
- 2 bags of M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate
- 1 styrofoam cone (I found mine at Dollar Tree)
- Mini adhesive dots (Like mini Glue Dots)
- Embellishments (ie: flat back rhinestones, ribbon, etc.)
Step 1 is to sort your M&M’s by color:
I made a little pile to the left for all my cracked ones that I couldn’t use. Feel free to eat them. I did.
Next I made a line of M&M’s down the center of the cone so I could have a template for my rows.
I love the cool 3D effect the curves of the M&M’s create. Oddly enough, when I eat them my curves get bigger, too. Who would have known?
My secret weapon to making this project super quick/efficient is using mini Glue Dots. No hot glue for this girl. NO THANKS.
I applied M&M’s row-by-row. Don’t let the gaps in the styrofoam scare you off. You can cover those usually in the next row or if not stick some jewels on it. We’ll do that later.
Finally, I am done applying all my M&M’s. Time to take this from corny to fab.
So, I did what any girl would do. I added jewels. You all are lucky I didn’t throw glitter on it.
Then I placed it on a glass tray I have, stuck on a spider, and marveled at my cute little centerpiece.
I love it. I had a little bit of the M&M’s left over, so I plan on making another 2 so I have a trio. I would say each cone takes about 2 cups of M&M’s, but I do highly recommend purchasing 2 bags to eat because you need a lot of orange and yellow since those colors require more M&M’s. This could also make a great craft to do with kids. You can incorporate counting…how many M&M’s you eat, I mean use, in this project.
Like my craft? Consider voting for it over on the M&M’s Get Corny website starting October 7th, plus you can look at many other craft and recipe ideas. The crafters/bakers really went all out for this project, and I’m sure you’ll find inspiration, too.
